US Sacagawea Dollars
The Sacagawea dollars has a plain edge instead of reeded and wider border than other coins. On the coin, it is the sculpture of Sacagawea, the Shoshone Indian guide and translator who came with Lewis and Clark on their exploration of the American West in the early 1800s. Two persons involved in the design of the coin. The obverse is designed by Glenna Goodacre and the reverse is designed by Thomas D. Rogers Jr.
Sacagawea dollar has the same size as the previously released Anthony dollar, but with a unique composition of 77 percent copper, 12 percent zinc, and 7 percent manganese, and 4 percent nickel.
There are several versions of design on the reverse. It was an eagle in flight at first, then Agriculture in 2009 and Great Tree of Peace in 2010.
