US Peace Dollars

Peace DollarIn 1921, Peace dollars were issued after Morgan dollars. A peace dollar was issued to have a new radiant Liberty head by sculptor Anthony de Francisci. The word “Peace” can be seen on the rocky perch on which the eagle stands to commemorate the end of World War I.

In 1935, the silver dollar stopped for circulation. The rumor has that in 1965 a few hundred thousand Peace dollars were struck  at Denver Mint that were dated 1964 and were melted later on. It’s said a few escaped the melting pot. So if you see any of them, it would be worth to collect.

A coin usually can have three different mint marks: D is for Denver, S is for San Francisco, and P is for Philadelphia. A coin without a mint mark means it was also minted in Philadelphia.

This is how much people would pay for Peace Dollar
