US Morgan Dollars
The first Morgan dollar was issued in 1878. It was introduced to the pressure from silver mining interests to remove silver from the market. As the silver mining booming, the price of the metal dropped as increasing supplies. However, a large bulk of Morgan dollars had been sitting in banks and private hands because they are not very convenient to use.

The name of Morgan dollar was considered to be named after George Morgan. No Morgan dollars were issued between1905 and 1920. The last Morgan dollar was issued inĀ 1921. As a result of the lost of old dies, a slightly change was introduced to the new die. And the quality from different Mints varies too. Morgan dollars struck in San Francisco usually hold better values than the ones struck in Phladelphia mint.
